[CIWEM HK] Technical Visit to Green 18 at the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park

Green technology is one of the focus areas of the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park (HKSTP). The Green 18 office block, which opened in May 2011, showcases green building technologies and the effective use of natural resources; and is the first of its kind in Hong Kong. 
 
It earned the Merit Award under the New Building Categories – Completed Buildings, Hong Kong at the GBR 2012.
 
This event will include a technical presentation by the design architect of Green 18; and a site walk accompanied by representatives from HKSTP to show various design, operation and maintenance features at scene.

About the Speakers Mr. Yam Shui Wah, Michaelis the Director of Simon Kwan & Associates Ltd. He is a registered architect with over 26 years of post-qualification experience in the design of a vast number of large-scale complex, public works, institutional, residential, commercial as well as interior design projects. He is specializing in environmental-friendly building design and was the key staff for the award winning projects of the Hong Kong Industrial Technology Centre, Centre of Environmental Technology, Green 18 and Hong Kong Science Park Phase 1a & Phase 3.  Mr. Yam is responsible for leading and supervising a team of experienced professional and technical staff during the active design stage to further develop the detail designs based on the Chairman’s confirmed scheme, and ensuring that the designs will meet the standard and requirement set out by the client. In this event, Mr. Yam will give a presentation on the topic, “Designing a Sustainable Building – Hong Kong Science Park Green 18”. He will elaborate a study case report using Green 18 as an example, to illustrate the possibility and opportunity of designing a sustainable building in Hong Kong.
 
Mr. Stephen Ip, Manager of Marketing and Sales Division in HKSTPC, is in-charge of Environmental Technologies/ Precision Engineering cluster and responsible for the tenant admission in Green 18.
